Nannup Cup News Flash
This year's Nannup Cup will be the highest water level since the race started in 1990. The water level is steady at Nannup but is still rising in the Arthur River which feeds the Blackwood River. The race will definitely start from Nannup Caravan Park and all records should be smashed.  Don't miss this one! See photos of river at Nannup Caravan Park.

Major Upgrade to this Website
This website will undergo a major facelift in the next few days.  Watch this site!

New PFDs Approved
The proposal to allow competitors to wear Type 2 PFDs was approved at the May General Meeting.  You may still use Type 1 PFDs if you prefer.  There are many different types of PFD Type 2, some with great features such as provision for a Camelback and pockets for snacks, etc.  Typically prices range from $70 -$130.

Drinking by Officials
Restrictions on the consumption of alcohol by Officials were approved at the May General Meeting.

0.00% Blood Alcohol Content for Avon Descent
Recent rule changes for the 2005 Avon Descent mean that competitors will have to have 0.00%BAC prior to starting each day of the race.

Clerk of Course (Power Boats) Kim Epton said that random tests will be conducted each morning before the Start.  "Should any competitor record higher than zero they will be re-tested and if still over (the limit) will be excluded from the race".

The tougher stance has resulted from duty of care and insurance concerns.

Big Al and Big Al to run Sunnyside Sprint
Al Bijl and Al Robinson have again put up their hand to organise the Sunnyside Sprint and (hopefully) Karen will be available as Race Director to sort out the chaos on the day.
