About Us

When the Club was formed in 1978 the only organised power dinghy races were the Avon Descent and the Blackwood Classic 250.

The Power Dinghy Racing Club now organises a full year round racing calendar, and events are conducted at locations around Western Australia, including:

  • Northam
  • Nannup
  • Bridgetown &
  • Burswood club rooms

Although a highly competitive sport, the Club is very much family oriented with several husband/ wife, fathers & sons/daughters and brother/sister teams competing in all events. Social events are also conducted by the Club throughout the year encouraging members, support crews and families to get together, foster the sport and introduce new members.

Junior racing members, as young as 10 years, may compete in Club events enabling them to gain several years experience before tackling the more arduous river races.

The Club always welcomes new members.

Power Dinghy Racing Club events are run under strict racing rules with a strong emphasis on safety. All competitors must undergo a swim test prior to racing in any event. Additionaly, all craft undergo scrutineering before entering the water to ensure that they meet the strict safety requirements and racing specifications.
